Can't sleep!

Hi all, I am Tony i am 55 years of age, i'm having trouble sleeping, this is how it all started.. i have had a messed up sleep pattern on and of for years where i can't sleep at all at night, i normally full to sleep between 6 and 7 am, and will sleep for about 6 to 7 hours some time 8 hours if i'm lucky, but about a week ago i decided to try and get my sleep pattern back in order and sleep at the right times.. big mistake! I tried by staying awake all night and day so hopefully i would sleep in the night like a normal person would, but how wrong i was.. i fell asleep for two hours and that was it and i struggled ever since trying to change my sleep routine, that was about a week go.. now when i finally managed to get some sleep it's only for an hour or two i have probably had about six hours sleep in the last week, don't know what to do and i'm going to try and get a doctor appointment in the morning as i have tried relaxing and taking deep slow breaths and nothing, but i have tried reeding which does eventually get me tired and nodding of but as soon as i full to sleep i'm awake again an hour later some time two if lucky! ☹️

  1. Thank you for the reply much appreciated! That's something i had thought of doing as i used to sleep to music in my 20's 30's and found it rather soothing and relaxing!

    1. Welcome to our community, we are so happy that you are here. Gosh, I am sorry to hear that in trying to manage your sleep routine, things got all muddled up. This has happened to me before on a smaller scale. My heart goes out to you, I understand what you are going through.
Your trip to the doctor will hopefully bring some relief and some ideas on how to manage moving forward. I like to put on an 8-hour binaural beats off YouTube and plug my phone in so it does not run down. Keeping the music running while I am sleeping has been helpful before. While I do not sleep the 8 hours, I at least know that the music is not going to run out.
