Do you suffer of tinnitus, paresthesia or visual snow?

Hi there,

was wondering if any of you who suffer of chronic sleep problems also suffer of tinnitus, paresthesia or visual snow.

There appears to be a very strong correlation between each of the three and chronic sleep problems, but it's all speculation as of right now.

The idea is that visual snow is disturbing light as zeitgeber while paresthesia is causing false temperature signals to the brain on which the body temperature is regulated the wrong way, which then causes fatigue or alertness in the wrong moment.

Tinnitus is more of an indirect indicator showing that when there is one of these loosely connected disorders, then there's probably also the others, but maybe hidden.

Thanks a lot!

  1. Hi . The symptoms you describe are all symptoms of Visual Snow Syndrome, which is a known neurological condition. Have you ever been evaluated for it? Here is a link to the Visual Snow Initiative website, where you can find lots more information: https://www.visualsnowinitiative.org/non-visual-symptoms/. Unfortunately, insomnia is a comorbidly of many neurological conditions. Sometimes it is because the brain is sending the wrong messages to the rest of the body and other times the nerve pain leads to a condition called painsomnia, a label for those who are unable to sleep because of pain. I hope you are under a neurologist's care and that you are getting some relief from your symptoms. Thinking of you and wishing you the best. - Lori (Team Member)
