Sleep help

I am 70 years old and I have had sleeping problems for quite a while. I have no social, medical or financial worries that have caused this. I recently took a course of Zopiclone sleeping tablets and they worked great while I took them but when I finished with them my sleep problems were the same again.
My question is this... If I took 1 Zopiclone tablets twice a week say on Wednesday and Saturday would that be ok so I would not become addicted to them. This would give me 2 nights a week a good sleep.

  1. I can understand how this could be frustrating! I would definitely do as Lori suggests and speak to your physician or pharmacist about dosing. In many people's experiences the medications kind of 'cover up' the sleeping problem by forcing some sleep to happen, but the underlying cause is still there. Perhaps having a conversation with your physician would be helpful to see if there is another underlying sleep or medical issue causing your sleeplessness. If they decide it's insomnia, a non-pharmacological approach might be helpful to discuss with them called CBTI. There are a lot of articles here on the site on this topic you may wish to explore and talk with them about: https://insomnia.sleep-disorders.net/search?s=cbti

    1. Hi . Unfortunately, we are not medical experts. So, we don't have that kind of information. You could ask your doctor, but your pharmacists would be another great resource. I hope you are able to determine the cause of your insomnia so you can address it differently and, hopefully, get some relief. Sending the best of all wishes your way. - Lori (Team Member)
