Hi . Welcome to the community! I removed your email address from your post for your safety. This is a public forum, so we have to be careful about what we share here. That's why our community rules prohibit sharing email addresses, phone numbers, that kind of thing. That's a lot to handle at such a young age. Is your family involved in your treatment? If your medication is not treating your anxiety on a regular basis, it might not be right for you. It should treat your symptoms in the same way 24/7, not only a few days a week and it should cause rapid heartbeat. There are many, many different medications for anxiety out there and there is no way to know how they will impact someone until they try them. One of my familiy members had experiences similar to yours when he was prescribed sertroline for anxiety. Meanwhile, another family member who took it was fine. He did some research on his own and found a new psychiatrist. It turns out his anxiety synmptoms were caused by undiagnosed ADD. Because he has none of the hyperactivity, he was never properly diagnosed. He is now on a new anxiety medication that works much better for people with ADD. Was your medication prescribed by a primary care doctor or a psychiatrist? Though primary care doctors can prescribe anxiety meds, it is best to be evaluated and treated by a psychiatrist. They understand the hormones that impact the brain much better than GPs. Regardless, please talk to your doctor about changing medications. It can take some trial and error to find the anxiety med that works best for you, but you will get there. Keep me posted, if you don't mind. I will be thinking of you. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
