Coping

I don’t know what else to do . I’ve been awake since 6am and it’s 3am the next day and I can’t sleep.. took sleep aids and my eyes wide open like I slept all day.. this is exhausting .. can anyone give me other reconditions pls? I really need to sleep😪

  1. Thank you all for your contributions and possible solutions. I live in Ghana and getting sleep medication here with ought being tagged as an adict is an extreme sports. And yes I've tried meditating, music and even cannabis. But doesn't really work for me. I have sickle cell and I have pains everyday. It's called painamonia I think. So I don't know what else to do when I can't get sleep medications here and healthcare is not as solid as it is in outside countries

    1. , thank you for being willing to share your experiences. That is such an unfortunate stigma, that a lot of others in the community also face. Unfortunately, you're not alone in your experiences, I know many in the community share about how they've exhausted all different options, it's really challenging to manage insomnia.

Yes, painsomnia is a term I see used a lot! You might be interested in reading this article; https://insomnia.sleep-disorders.net/living/painsomnia. Warmly, Minel (Team Member)

  2. ...Just checking back in with you to see how you are doing. I hope you have been able to find some relief and get some rest. Hugs, April, Insomnia.Sleep-Disorders.net, Moderator

    1. yh, I managed to get some..but not good enough 😔

  3. ...I am so sorry. It is such an overwhelming feeling to go without sleep for such a long stretch. I know how it begins to affect all aspects of your life.

I am not sure how you feel about taking medication, but I can say that melatonin helps me if used occasionally. I find that I can take it a couple of nights in a row before it stops helping. It is fairly easy to find.

I would like to share 's video with you. I have really found her techniques to be helpful in calming me when I feel at my most desperate.

    1. I’m so sorry to hear about your exhaustion. I’m sorry I’m late chiming in. I have gone through periods of time where I was awake for days on end. It is completely distressing. Would you be willing to share what you have tried so far? I worked through all the basics of good sleep hygiene, then tried all the supplements and herbal concoctions. I did a lot of psychological therapy which did help - reducing anxiety was a big thing for me. I sometimes find mindfulness and meditation is helpful - but not always. Eventually I had to accept the necessity for prescription medications. They usually work for me these days. Do you have a good health care provider? I am thinking of you and hoping you have had a little sleep in the past few days.

      Cheers.
