Force myself to sleep on my back

I am looking for a way to force myself to sleep on my back. There are alot of articles about health benefits and why I should but sleep training seems harder to find. I'm at the point where I would pay someone for sleep training. Changing my mattress is not an option. I just need to figure out a way to force my mind to sleep on my back

  1. For side sleeping, body pillow at the back is crucial for avoiding additional back pain! It gives you some additional support so you twist your back less, and you don’t wake some to reposition because your muscles have stopped supporting your position when you fall asleep. There are some wedge shaped body pillows out there now that are a bit firmer and are for side sleepers to support the back. These help a bunch.

I twist like you. It does help to have a pillow under or between the knees when side sleeping to lessen the twisting.

    1. Try placing some of those long body pillows or a rolled up blanket at your sides, cocooning you in. You may also want pillow under your knees and a rolled up towel under your lower back if you get back pain.

If you have issues with neck pain because of your head turning to the side when you sleep on your back, you can try a travel neck pillow to hold your head in place. Or I sometimes use a small plush doll at the neck to prop the head, or even a small blanket wadded up and shaped how I need.

But the main things that help are the body pillows and under knee pillow.

But if you have apnea, back sleeping is not ideal. Scientific studies show you are best sleeping on your side, and left side is best of all.

      1. oh my goodness, I love body pillows, especially one tucked behind my back. I find it near impossible to sleep on my back, I mostly sleep on my left twisted like a pretzel, which is not ideal. If I wake up in pain I often tuck a pillow behind my back and slightly roll onto it, It always feels so safe.

Travel neck pillows are great too.
