That's a good question, . It isn't necessary to use white noise regularly of you don't feel you need it. Personally, I like to keep a fan on in the bedroom because small noises in the night make me anxious and prevent me from sleeping. The low noise of the fan drowns them out. But I can still sleep without it if I have to. Though white noise is generally considered safe, there are a few studies that suggest it might be harmful for those with hearing problems or tinnitus.
