Unusual Symptoms

I go to sleep usually between 10 and 11 pm. I have no problem falling asleep or staying asleep. However it only lasts 1/1/2 t0 3 hours. When I awaken I cannot get comfortable in bed, and toss and turn for any period of time until I have to get up. I then go down to my Stressless chair, recline in it, pull up a blanket, and sleep until at least 5:30 in the morning. This occurs virtually every night.

Has anyone encountered this before? If so, how can I get out of the routine? I'd like to stay in my bed, which by the way, I do not consider the problem.

  1. April: Thanx for your response. I have to think about it a little but I think you may have hit the nerve. Will let you know if I make changes as per your note. Hopefully it will be positive.

    1. ...I am sorry to hear you are dealing with this regular interruption in your sleep. I have a similar problem, but I don't leave the bed. I tend to wake after about three hours and then toss until time to get up.

Have you ever tried doing the opposite of your normal routine? I wonder if you got sleepy enough to doze off in your chair first and then went to bed after you got sleepy or had an hour or so headstart in the chair if that would help you settle in the bed for longer.

I am sharing a link to a video by one of our advocates. I have found it very helpful many nights.
